Barcelona captain Sergi Busquets is willing to accept a salary reduction.

Sport says he is aware of the club's problems and is willing to accept a reduce salary or defer part of his wage with one condition: at the end of the 2022-23 season he has in his hands the decision to end his time at Barça if he feels it's the right moment.

Busquets has listened to Barça's renewal offer to defer his salary over a longer period of time, which includes a reduction as well, but Barça have to make sure the solution fits within LaLiga's legal framework as well.

If Busquets renews, but in June, close to 35, decides it's time to move on from Barça, he wants the freedom to be able to leave.

In that scenario, the problem arrives in the form of deferred payments, which would be computed on the current campaign's books, per LaLiga's criteria. Therefore, Barça would not be able to create any salary space.

Negotiations between the two parties are continuing this week.
