Barcelona captain Busquets: We're in a serious situation; we're bottom

Barcelona captain Sergi Busquets admits they're in a "serious situation" after Wednesday night's 3-0 Champions League defeat to Benfica.

Barcelona have now lost both of their opening Champions League group-stage matches this term and in truth have not been competitive in either of them.

"We're in a serious situation, we have only had two games but we have zero points," Busquets declared in his post-match interview.

"We have to think about moving up the table, we have no other choice.

"We have to wait and see what happens in the other games. We are bottom, but we must think positively."

Barcelona didn't have a single shot on target from any of their three forward players, something which Busquets believes didn't reflect their creativity.

"I don't know, but we had a lot of crosses," he added.

"We had chances which ended up with shots a few metres from goal. The stats are all well and good, but those are chances to score.

"In the areas where games are decided we haven't been impactful. I think we had enough chances, but we let them off the hook."

When pressed on the future of Ronald Koeman, Busquets refused to feed the speculation that the Dutchman will soon be dismissed.

"In the end, the easiest thing is to dismiss the coach," he added.

"However, we all have responsibilities.

"This is a serious situation, really."
