Barcelona are closing on a deal for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.

Sport says Barcelona are close to agreeing a deal to sign Germany midfielder Gundogan.

Although the player would be unable to take to the field until January 2016 due to Barcelona's transfer embargo, the club is able to sign new players in the interim.

The current board at Barcelona, headed by club president Josep Maria Bartomeu, is in a hurry to sign and seal new arrivals as it is widely expected he will tender his resignation on June 9 as the club statutes demand ahead of the presidential elections.
