Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman has been assured he can buy in January - but with a qualifier.

Interim Barca president Carles Tusquets has warned in recent days that the club's finances are in a delicate state.

However, he also insists the club can buy during the winter market - so long as they sell first.

"If someone is sold in the winter market someone can be bought. We can also sign players who will arrive on lesser wages. This is the situation," explained Tusquets.

"We can sign if we sell before and if there is money. Koeman and (sporting director Ramon) Planes are fully aware."

Tusquets also said: “I don't want to say that it is a dramatic situation, but it is highly worrying. Nobody foresaw such a situation. We can't do anything. This is getting worse day by day.

"Our sponsors renegotiate downwards if they have less visibility. Hence, in order to sign, we must first sell."
