Barcelona are Champions League favourites - Arsenal's Wenger

Barcelona's recent 5-0 thrashing of rivals Real Madrid in the Spanish La Liga has installed them as 'super-favourites' for the Champions League according to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

The Catalan giants became the team to beat in Wenger's eyes after they tore apart a star-studded Real outfit but the Gunners boss has not ruled out a potential upset later in the competition - and it could come from his team if they get the required result against Partizan Belgrade tonight.

"With that game (against Real Madrid) they said: 'Everybody, we are the super-favourites of this competition' and: 'The team which wants to win this competition has to knock us out.' That is what they said. That was the case last year," Wenger said.

"But I believe that when they played Inter last year they were just physically going down. They were unlucky with some decisions.

"In the first game of the tie, they had some penalties turned down and in the second game they scored a regular second goal. People say Inter beat them, but Barca lost it.

"I agree they are the super favourites. But I feel first of all, we are not guaranteed to play Barcelona and also, we have to go through."
