Barcelona announce new knee injury for Pique

Barcelona say Gerard Pique has suffered a sprain in the internal lateral ligament of his right knee.

It is due to keep the defender out for between two and three weeks.

The Blaugrana have not specified when Pique will be able to return to action and stated that his evolution will be monitored by the medical staff, but it is thought he wll miss the matches against Osasuna, Paris Saint-Germain, Huesca and Real Sociedad

Pique picked up a knock during Barcelona's Copa del Rey semi-final against Sevilla at the Camp Nou and after being treated on the sideline, he decided to return to the pitch, where he remained until the final whistle.

The 34-year-old centre-back returned to action recently after being sidelined for three months due to a ligament injury, one which he suffered in the LaLiga Santander game against Atletico Madrid back in November at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano.
