Barcelona and Napoli to contest first US La Liga-Serie A Cup competition

Relevent Sports Group, the US-based soccer events and media business, has established a new-preseason tournament, the La Liga-Serie A Cup, with the competition set to feature teams from the Spanish and Italian top divisions, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.

The inaugural event this summer will see La Liga champions Barcelona face Serie A runners-up SSC Napoli on 7th August at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami and 10th August at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The pre-season tournament will be Napoli's first trip to the US in more than 30 years. Explaining the decision, Aurelio De Laurentiis, Napoli chairman, said: "To have the opportunity to reintroduce SSC Napoli to the American market in this historic matchup against a world class club is huge for us."

Josep Maria Bartomeu, Barcelona president, added: "Visiting the United States and being able to get closer to our fans is always a great thing for Barca.

"On top of that, we will also have the chance to play at two iconic stadiums: at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, where in 2017 we played the La Liga Clásico, and at Michigan Stadium, the largest in the United States."
