Barcelona and Boca Juniors to meet in Maradona Cup

Barcelona and Boca Juniors are to face-off before the end of the year in the newly created 'Maradona Cup'.

The match struck in tribute to Argentine great Diego Maradona will be played in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, at the Mrsool Park stadium.

The meeting will commemorate the first anniversary of the death of Maradona, who passed away on November 25, 2020.

The match will bring together two of the great clubs where Maradona played. The Argentine played with Boca Juniors on two occasions, for the first time in the 1981/82 season, and 13 years later, in 1995 where he played two more seasons.

With Barcelona he played two seasons, 1982/83 and 1983/84, and won up three titles, a Copa del Rey, a Copa de la Liga and the Supercopa de España, with a total of 58 games.
