The Holland midfielder had several proposals to move clubs. Manchester United were the team most interested in obtaining his services, but he did not want to give up on his dream of succeeding at Camp Nou.
According to Masip, Laporta never considered transferring him at any moment.
"The president has never wanted to or considered selling De Jong", Laport'as advisor told Què T'hi Jugues. “He has never considered selling him ever. Not even with the delicate situation of the club (financially)."
In the same interview, Masip confessed that, right now, Barça "cannot sign" without "freeing up" the wage bill.
He also took the opportunity to make it clear that the club's hierarchy has "maximum confidence" in Xavi.
"Despite the little experience he had, he has a very clear philosophy and he has shown it," he concluded.
