Barcelona star Lionel Messi has sung the praises of several Liverpool players.

Messi has designed a set of trading cards for the Champions League withe Topps and he picked out 25 "Top Talents" alongside rising stars with his own greatest moments thrown in.

Virgil Van Dijk, who he beat to last year's Ballon d'Or, made the cut along with Alisson Becker, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

On Van Dijk's card, Messi wrote: "He is a very tough opponent, one of the best in the world".

The Barca legend noted Alisson's composure as he said: "He is very calm. He seems to have more time than most goalkeepers."

Salah's remarkable run of goalscoring has caught the eye, with Messi saying: "He has been amazing for Liverpool FC. I like his style."

He also hailed Sadio Mane's versatility and energy, remarking that: "He is like a midfielder, winger, striker. He is everywhere."

There was also a place on the rising stars list for Trent Alexander-Arnold as he labelled his attacking capabilities from full-back as “the future".
