Banger backing Lallana Southampton return

Former Southampton striker Nicky Banger can see Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana returning to St Mary's.

Banger reckons it would be good business if the St Mary's side got him back in the transfer window.

Banger told the Daily Echo: “I hope we can bring quality players in.

“There is talk of [Adam] Lallana coming back, and I hope that happens. I'd definitely have him.

“I think he has got lots of life in him still and I think he would add quality.

“Whether a player is young or old, we have got to get the right player for this club that is good enough.

“I don't blame him for leaving at all and it was great money for the club which they reinvested.

“If we can get Lallana back, imagine him linking up with [Danny] Ings.

“He has had a few injuries but if you look at that as a positive, he hasn't played that many games.

“He would come back hungry and he would obviously want to try and get back in the England squad and he isn't going to do that sitting on the bench at Liverpool.

“He would come back here with something to prove and, with England, Gareth Southgate isn't too fussed where players come from.

“Ward-Prowse has got on the periphery of England and he plays for Southampton."
