Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack can't understand why Jose Mourinho is freezing out Juan Mata.

Mata, 25 was signed from Valencia for £23.5m in 2011 - but has only played 17 times this season.

Ballack said: "I can't understand why Mourinho is having trouble to get his best from his forwards and I think not playing Mata is a mistake."
