Real Madrid enjoyed a 3-0 win at Getafe yesterday.
Real struck three times in 16 second-half minutes to finally end the dogged resistance of local rivals Getafe, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale the men on the mark.
After being kept goalless for more than an hour, Madrid's much-vaunted strikeforce made the breakthrough they had been searching for in the 63rd minute when Ronaldo finished off a well-worked move.
Bale then volleyed home a second before Ronaldo wrapped up a 3-0 win with Madrid's third 11 minutes from time, ensuring Carlo Ancelotti's men would finish the first half of the Primera Division season on top of the standings.
Ancelotti said: "It was a very good match overall. We lacked a bit of intensity at the beginning because we played on Thursday night, but we improved in the second half. It was an intelligent performance from us, without any risks being taken at the back.
"That bit of play from Benzema was spectacular, I don't know what else to say. They whole team played well. His bit of play was the key to winning the game, what he did was extraordinary. Everyone is delighted. The goals came through team moves and that is fantastic. Cristiano and Bale finished their chances well. Gareth is fine, he only got a knock and is fully fit."
