Bailey Wright commits to Preston

Preston North End's Australian centre-back Bailey Wright has signed a new deal that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2016/17 season.

Wright joined the club's youth team back in 2009, making him the longest serving current player at Deepdale. He made 34 appearances in the league last season, as Preston won promotion to the Championship via the play-offs back in May.

The 22-year-old still had another year to run on his contract, but has been rewarded for a fine season with a new and improved contract.

Lilywhites manager Simon Grayson was delighted to have secured one of his club's biggest assets ahead of the upcoming season.

“Bailey had a clause in his contract that we activated at the end of last season extending his stay, however, we were keen to do a new deal and I am delighted he has signed," Grayson said.

"I have seen Bailey develop as a player since I arrived at the club and with a full pre-season under his belt we look forward to even more from him in the Championship."
