Released Derby County striker Darren Bent has questioned new manager Frank Lampard's move for John Terry.
With Terry currently a free agent following his departure from Aston Villa, there have been strong links to Pride Park due to the defender's friendship with new Derby boss - and former Chelsea teammate - Frank Lampard.
Lampard has not ruled out a potential move for Terry, especially if Curtis Davies leaves Pride Park, but Bent is unsure what use the defender would have.
“If they keep Curtis, I don't think they need him (Terry)," said the striker, who is leaving Derby this summer when his contract expires, to Derbyshire Live.
“It would be handy to have him around, but I think sometimes it can be a little bit of a burden on Curtis and (Richard) Keogh knowing that Terry's there - and even to Lampard, because he wants to go there and be his own man.
“Listen, there's no harm in having a Terry in the building but, to me, if you can keep hold of what you've got and bring some of these youngsters through, that could be the way forward for Derby."
