Australia's number one goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer is in doubt for Monday night's international friendly with New Zealand. The Fulham gloveman injured his thumb at Socceroos training on Thursday and did not take part in yesterday's session at Melbourne's Olympic Park outing him under a cloud ahead of the Socceroos' World Cup send off at the MCG.
It is unlikely that head coach Pim Verbeek will risk Schwarzer if he is not 100% meaning one of Brad Jones from Middlesbrough, Reading's Adam Federici and Adelaide United's Eugene Galekovic may be given an opportunity.
Verbeek will cut one of the shot-stoppers before the tournament in South Africa kicks off on June 11so if Schwarzer misses, it present a huge chance for one of the three vying for a spot in the final 23.
