Aussies in line for inaugural award

Four Australian players have been nominated for the inaugural Asian Player of the Year Award. The Abu Dhabi-based Super Sport Magazine will present the award and will choose a final list of ten nominees from the 43 that have been named so far.

The award winner is to be announced on November 18.

Jason Culina (PSV Eindhoven), Brett Emerton (Blackburn Rovers), Tim Cahill (Everton) and Travis Dodd (Adelaide United) are the Australians who have been nominated.

Other big names that are up for the award include Japan's Shunsuke Nakamura and Shinji Kagawa, South Korea's Park Ji-Sung and Iraq's Younis Mahmoud.
