Former Atletico Madrid midfielder Augusto Fernández has admitted he moved to China for the money.

Fernandez has just come off contract from Beijing Renhe.

"I am not going to be a hypocrite, I did not go to China for soccer, I had two more years of contract with Atlético and Cholo loved me," he said.

"Chinese soccer is underestimated. People think we played with a paper ball.

"Chinese football was for me an experience like life. Rare, different.

"So much difference.

"I went to compete, to train. The respect of the Chinese you are not going to earn with what you did in the past, with your name, you earn it by training well and performing."
