Marca says even though he has only been a starter at Real Valladolid for half a season, the centre-back has been very impressive this campaign and has been at the heart of a defence that has conceded just 27 goals from 24 matches, the sixth-best record in LaLiga Santander.

His lack of experience is a significant factor that has to be taken into consideration, but Atletico Madrid know that this is a potentially excellent market opportunity given the 20-year-old's release clause is just 12 million euros.
