Atletico Madrid are tracking River Plate midfielder Exequiel Palacios.

At 19, Palacios is a River Plate first-choice this season and his emergence has come to the attention of Atletico.

AS says Palacios' versatility has impressed Atleti scouts and a move for the player is now being prepared.

The youngster, who made his debut at 15, is tied to River until 2021, with his deal carrying a €15m buyout clause.

Atletico swooped for Argentinos Juniors defender Nehen Perez, 18, last summer. He is currently playing on-loan with his former parent club.
