Atletico Madrid's Fernando Torres says next week's International Champions Cup clash wth Tottenham Hotspur holds a lot of significant for him.
The Spanish giants meet the Premier League club at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Friday, July 29 as part of the worldwide ICC tournament for 2016 and Atleti striker Torres is eagerly anticipating another Spurs showdown.
The former Liverpool and Chelsea star came up against the North Londoners during his time in the Premier League and is keen to again go face-to-face with the club who are now challenging for titles under the tutelage of Mauricio Pochettino.
“Tottenham is a great club. They have an amazing fans," Torres told LaLigaWorld courtesy of Atletico Madrid.
“Always when I was in England it was special to go to White Hart Lane and play against them.
“I think Pochettino is doing a great job mixing the talented young players they have with more experienced players.
“Last season they were very close to winning the Premier League, and in the future they will do it, so we know it's going to be a difficult test and this is the kind of game we like to play.
“We are really looking forward to facing Tottenham."
Atletico arrive in Melbourne next week ahead of their ICC meeting with Spurs before heading down the highway to Geelong to take on A-League club Melbourne Victory in a pre-season friendly.
