Atletico Madrid striker Morata: Diego Costa helped me through Chelsea woes

Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata has revealed Diego Costa was in contact with him at Chelsea.

Morata moved to Chelsea from Real Madrid effectively as Costa's replacement, as he engineered a controversial return to Atletico.

Now together at the Wanda Metropolitano, Morata told AS: "I have a very good relationship with him, I admire him.

"Diego knows it. He is my friend. People do not know, but I had bad times in England and he gave me a hand. I was unhappy and had contact with him, we are friends...

"That's why if they ask me to play anywhere, I'll do it. If I have to play zero minutes and watch the games from my home, I do not care, now what I want is to pay him back."

He added: "The press gives more importance to the starters, but perhaps the one who plays twenty minutes is the one who solves the tie (against Champions League opponents Juventus), since in these type of matches the details are very important."
