Atletico Madrid striker Angel Correa continued his excellent start to the LaLiga Santander season as he fired home the winner for victory over Elche on Sunday.

The Argentine striker lit up a closely-fought contest at the Wanda Metropolitano with his first-half strike, as he followed on from his brace at Celta Vigo on the opening day of the LaLiga Santander season.

A first half of few chances came to life after 37 minutes, as Kiko Casilla misjudged a lofted ball from Rodrigo de Paul, with Correa on hand to curl the ball into the top corner.

Los Rojiblancos looked to build on their momentum after the break, and when Jose Maria Gimenez met Koke's corner in the 47th minute, Casilla acquitted himself smartly to turn the ball away.

Elche struggled to create real chances of note for the remainder of the half, and Atletico Madrid had their Argentine striker to thank again as they made it two wins out of two at the start of their 2021/22 LaLiga Santander campaign.
