The Blues are keen on the Uruguayan international and are set to make a new offer to his Spanish club in a bid to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
And the 25-year old is delighted that a club like Chelsea are showing so much interest in him indicating that if it was his choice he would be on his way to London.
"In January, Atletico received an offer (from Chelsea) but the transfer did not happen," Godin told The Mirror.
"They had already sold other players and did not want to weaken the team further then.
"For Chelsea to still be interested in having me is an honour and means I must be playing well.
"Who would not want to play there? To do so would be a step up."
