Atletico Madrid are ready to welcome Fluminense superkid Marcos Paulo.

Mundo Deportivo says Marcos Paulo is now a free agent after coming off contract yesterday and will sign with Atletico.

He had agreed personal terms with Atletico earlier this year and his signing is expected to be a formality. Indeed, Atletico coach Diego Simeone expects Marcos Paulo to report for the first day of preseason training on July 7.

Still only 18, Marcos Paulo was a first-choice for Flu, though sat out the second-half of last season due to his commitment to Atletico. The youngster also carries a Portuguese passport.
