Atletico Madrid midfielder Partey keen to work with Arsenal boss Arteta

Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey is open to working with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

Partey remains a summer target for the Gunners.

The Daily Mail says Partey is 'very much intrigued' by the prospect of playing under Arteta in the Gunners' new-look side.

Despite that, though, Arsenal will struggle to afford the midfielder's £45million release clause with the club losing roughly £5m for every match played behind closed doors.

And what ultimately happens with Partey is something only time will tell.

Arteta was coy when asked about transfers after his side's victory over Fulham on Saturday, saying: “I don't know.

“I am not going to discuss here what the things that happened internally. But a lot of the things they have been writing, I can tell you they are not true."
