Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak has stepped away from the Slovenia national team.

Oblak has asked the national team to leave him out for six months so he can recover from various injury problems.

The Slovenian football federation published a note to confirm the decision, saying that the keeper had a meeting in Madrid with the president, Radenko Mijatovic, in which he explained he wanted to stop playing.

There have been reports in Slovenia that the real reason Oblak does not want to play is because of problems with the coach Bojan Kavcic.
