Atletico Madrid have fought off attempts from Manchester United to prise away whizkid Marcos Denia.

The 16 year-old centre-forward is one of the pearls of Atletico's academy and was the subject of major interest from Manchester United.

United tabled a pro contract offer to Denia's agent Juanma López, reports AS, but Atletico have managed to convince the teen to commit to a new deal. Denia is now contracted with Atletico for another three years.

Denia is the son of former Atletico star Santi Denia.

Along with being a star for Atletico's youth team, Marcos Denia is also a Spain U16 international.
