Atletico Madrid coach Simeone tells Morata: Forget about the penalty

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone offered no excuses after their 1-0 defeat to Real Betis.

Alvaro Morata believed that Atletico should have had a penalty that was not given, before Betis had a penalty awarded minutes later, which Sergio Canales put past Jan Oblak.

"I don't think it's fair to talk about it [the penalty decisions] after a defeat," said Simeone.

"You saw it clearly."

The defeat saw Morata make his debut for Atletico and Simeone was impressed by what he saw, though he did want to discuss the entire side.

"I'm talking about the team," he responded.

"There were few occasions for the two [up top - Morata and Antoine Griezmann].

"We could not find solutions when the game grew to a close.

"Morata had an important job in his first game.

"Let's hope he continues to contribute."
