Atletico Madrid coach Simeone pleased to see off Real Betis

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone was pleased with victory over Real Betis.

Atletico won 1-0 thanks to Angel Correa's winner.

"The teams at the top are stronger due to the players that they have on the bench," said the Argentine coach.

"We have been improving since the Eibar game, more consistency with our play, rhythm, chances, pressure. Kalinic, Lemar and Rodrigo are more involved now and of the players that have come in it is still necessary for Arias and Gelson to play more.

"We started the season winning the Supercopa de Espana against Madrid, we played well against Valencia, then we faced Rayo and Celta where it didn't come off and since the Eibar game we have improved.

"I am happy that with the absentees we have had we were able to perform well against a good side and one that is solid defensively.

Simeone was not too concerned that they didn't get more than one goal.

"We didn't create so many chances after the first but I look at everything and it doesn't matter if you get one or two goals," he continued.

"The team is better, the players are better and as they are better as individuals then the team is stronger, inside a structure that we have had for the past seven years.

"Coaches are important because they know the players best and they believe in them. If I put Thomas for Kalinic it is because I believe that we can win the game, I am not thinking in defending but in winning possession.

"With Lemar he gave us more options and Correa on the bench was ready for his chance to cause problems on the right."
