Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone is counting on Diego Costa for next season.

Although the striker is out injured for the match with Girona, the coach hopes he'll return soon and hopes he'll remain for the 2019/20 season.

"He is definitely out of contention for this game and we hope he will be back on Saturday," he said at a press conference.

"Regarding Costa and [Alvaro] Morata, we cannot look too far ahead and we have to take it game by game.

"As for Costa, I have complete confidence in him and I hope that he stays next year.

"He is a hugely important player for us.

"It is no coincidence that since he re-signed for us we have won trophies."
