Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has explained holding back Thomas Lemar this season.

The winger arrived in the summer from AS Monaco.

"Lemar must understand that football is not only visual, it must also be concrete," said Simeone.

"It's good to do things that are nice for the fans, but first you have to think about what's good for the team."

Simeone also talked about his way of working at Atleti.

"I try to forget everything that has happened to us in previous years and I concentrate on one thing, which is how to win tomorrow," he noted.

"My ambition is to work to improve my players, as a coach is primarily a coach, not only in tactics but also in emotional matters."
