Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone says victory at Almeria was their best performance of the season.
Antoine Griezmann struck twice for Atletico's 2-1 win, with Leo Baptistao scoring for Almeria.
Atletico sit in third place on the LaLiga table and Simeone enthused: "First, eighty minutes of the best of the season.
"A team that knew what to do at all times, generated scoring situations, controlled any rival counterattack... We found the goal, then dangerous situations in the first half and the 1-1 appeared with some luck for them.
"We imagined a similar game in the second half, we managed to make it 2-1, we kept looking... The goalkeeper was the best, like in Almería, stopping everything that was kicked, and the posts didn't help us.
"What's happening? That with 2-1 and five minutes, it is normal for you to think that you can escape, that you were not forceful as you deserved. It's more of a fear than what actually appears. This time the VAR favoured us, I still think it's fairer.
"In Griezmann's goal they whistle for offside and it wasn't. In the penalty it was... The VAR makes it fairer for everyone. This time it was our turn. Tomorrow maybe we will be given against."
