The ever increasing pile of names regarding Arsenal's chase for a new central defender has gained another addition.
Arsene Wenger remains determined to lure a replacement for injured centre-backs Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista before the end of the summer transfer window and has already been linked with a number of players in that position.
The latest to emerge on the radar of the Gunners is Atletico Madrid's Jose Gimenez but the Daily Mail is reporting that his £40million valuation has the North Londoners baulking already.
Arsenal have not yet met the £30m asking price Valencia have for Shkodran Mustafi so are highly unlikely to go to £40m for 21-year-old Uruguay international Gimenez.
Also on the Arsenal defensive radar is West Bromwich Albion's Jonny Evans, Hoffenheim's Fabian Schar, Fenerbahce's Simon Kjaer, Bayer Leverkusen's Omer Toprak, Monaco's Marcel Tisserand and to a lesser extent, Manchester City gaunter Jason Denayer.
