Atletico have pulled out of negotiations with Porto for Ricardo Quaresma and are now pouring all their energy into prising Simao away from Benfica.

AS says Simao is ready to quit Benfica this summer and his asking price has now dropped to £15 million. However, Atletico's opening offer is for £10 million.

Simao's agent, Jorge Mendez, will meet with Benfica supremo Jose Veiga this morning to inform him of Atletico's offer. The midfielder believes that at 27 now is the time to return to Spain and show that he has improved since his time at Barcelona.
