Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann says the Ballon d'Or should go to a French player this year.

Griezmann, who was ignored for FIFA's The Best awards, is among the top 30 for the Ballon d'Or nominees.

"It is the one that makes little stars in my eyes," said Griezmann. "The Ballon d'Or must be won by a French player."

Griezmann won the World Cup with France, finishing as the man of the match in the final and he also finished as the Europa League's best player with a brace in the final.
