Atalanta goalscorer Pasalic: We were so close

Atalanta midfielder Mario Pasalic says they players were left frustrated after their Champions League quarterfinal defeat to PSG.

La Dea were leading at the 89th minute via Pasalic, only for PSG goals from Marquinhos and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in injury-time to earn the French the win.

“It's a pity, we were so close, but that's the Champions League, teams with quality upfront can score two goals in two minutes," Pasalic told Sky Sport Italia.

“The disappointment is there, so are regrets, but we want to look forward and be more prepared for the Champions League next season.

“We did all we possibly could, there's no doubt about that, but these teams have so much individual quality that they can hurt you at any moment.

“I think we proved that we can fight it out with the strongest opponents and I hope we can do the same in the Champions League next season."
