Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini is to be named an honorary citizen of Bergamo.

Gasperini is being celebrated after leading Atalanta into the Champions League last season.

“It's a huge honour and I am so very proud. Receiving this recognition is further confirmation of the bond that has been formed with the city of Bergamo, its people and the Atalanta fans," Gasperini told the official club website.

“I think it is something that goes beyond sport and sporting results. It is such an important gift and from today I have even more responsibility."
