Aston Villa take out NextGen series with victory over Chelsea

Aston Villa have been crowned the NextGen champions for the 2012/13 season courtesy of a 2-0 victory over Chelsea in Lake Como, Italy.

A second-half double from Graham Burke allowed Villa to edge past a Chelsea side who were looking extremely dangerous early through the likes of Islam Feruz, Lewis Baker and Jeremie Boga.

The opening goal came four minutes into the second half when Chelsea's Alex Davey brought down Callum Robinson with Burke stepping up to slot home from the penalty spot.

Chelsea's Alex Kiwomya was sent off late in the game with Burke again despatching from the spot to make it a pair of penalties which gave Villa the victory.

Chelsea got through to the final thanks to a 4-3 extra-time win over Arsenal in the semi-final whilst Villa were in the decider following their 3-1 extra-time triumph over Sporting Lisbon.

Chelsea's Baker was named Player of the Tournament whilst Villa's Burke and Blues attacker Feruz tied on seven goals to be the competition's leading scorers.
