Aston Villa striker Danny Ings happy to grab point against Wolves

Aston Villa striker Danny Ings was delighted to score the equaliser in last night's draw against Wolves.

The striker climbed off the bench and made a telling contribution with 12 minutes remaining to cancel out Daniel Podence's first-half opener.

“We had an amazing result at the weekend and sometimes following that up can be very, very difficult," Ings told AVFCTV.

“They really wanted the points, they worked really hard and made it difficult for us. It was the reaction, for me, that shows how far we've come as a team.

“We got back in the game and we nearly won it at the end. There are a lot of positives tonight."

Ings' cool finish was his seventh goal of the season, keeping him top of the club's scoring charts this term.

He said: “It's not just the starting XI that impact the game, the subs do as well.

“At the weekend, I thought our subs came on and helped to kill the game off. Tonight, it was a different reaction. We had to get back in the game and we showed great character.

“It's always nice to score in front of the Holte End. For me, it's about helping the team, whether I start or come on from the bench.

“I always give my all for the team and luckily it paid off tonight."
