The Villa homegrown talent has committed his immediate future to the club.
The 25-year-old has signed a five year deal that will end speculation of a possible move to Manchester United.
And Grealish admitted it was touch and go on whether he would stay.
He told Sky Sports: "Yeah, I suppose so [it was touch and go].
"I had a good season last season and there was interest in myself from other clubs, but I just truly believe that everything happens for a reason and I've just happened to sign a new contract at Aston Villa, and I've got the biggest smile on my face."
