Aston Villa ready to sell four fringe players

Aston Villa are ready to sell four fringe players in the coming weeks.

Sky Sports says some fringe players will be sold this summer as part of a 'significant squad overhaul.'

Morgan Sanson, Trezeguet, Anwar El Ghazi and Bertrand Traore have all been named as players who could leave should the right offer come in this summer. All four players have found themselves struggling for game time under Steven Gerrard, with El Ghazi spending the second half of the season on loan at Everton.

The 27-year-old also struggled for game time at Goodison Park, making just two appearances for the Toffees during his time at the club, totalling 11 minutes of pitch time. He has been with Villa since 2018, initially joining on loan from Lille before making the move permanent.

Trezeguet is in a similar boat in that he spent the second half of the season away from Villa Park. The Egyptian played for Turkish side Basaksehir from February but is due to return to Villa Park this summer.

Sanson has been with Villa for a shorter period of time, but is another player who struggled for game time in the season just gone. The Frenchman arrived at Villa Park in January 2021, but made just ten Premier League appearances for the club in 2021/22. He has been linked with a move back to his native France.

Traore made just nine appearances in the Premier League last season. He could be another player who leaves Villa in search of more minutes when the summer window officially opens on June 10.
