Aston Villa assistant manager John Terry is being linked with the job at Bristol City.
City are actively seeking a new managerial appointment after the dismissal of Lee Johnson this week. Johnson lost his job after four defeats in a row since the season restart.
BirminghamLive reports among the candidates being discussed is Chelsea legend Terry.
The 39-year-old has been acting as assistant manager to Aston Villa boss Dean Smith this season.
Terry has also been mentioned as a successor for Smith, should Villa's board choose to act before the season concludes.
