Aston Villa have moved up to ninth on the table with a 2-0 win over Norwich City.

Jacob Ramsey broke the deadlock after 34 minutes with a tremendous solo effort as he ran through the Norwich defence before finishing strongly past Tim Krul.

Ollie Watkins sealed the three points with a late goal, side footing Carney Chukwuemeka's low delivery to crash the Norwich goal.

Norwich almost got themselves level early in the second-half when Ashley Young's errand backpass was collected by Kenny McLean, but the Scotsman failed to get a shot off.

The win lifts Villa into the top half of the Premier League before Wednesday's matches.

Steven Gerrard has now four out of six games in charge of Villa.

The Canaries, managed by former Villa boss Dean Smith, are rooted to the bottom of the table on 10 points.
