Aston Villa midfielder Veretout: I spoke to Pogba before Premier League move

Jordan Veretout has revealed he spoke with fellow Frenchman Paul Pogba before opting to join Aston Villa.

Veretout told the Daily Mail he contacted his former France U-20 teammate to ask him about life in England, before turning down Bournemouth and Leicester City to sign with the Villans.

Pogba was on the books of Manchester United before joining his current club Juventus and played alongside Veretout in the French side that won the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2013.

"I spoke to Pogba and (Arsenal striker) Yaya Sanogo and asked them both what it would be like for me to come to England," Veretout said.

"I asked them what it would be like to join Aston Villa. In the end though it was my choice. It's all about doing a job for the coach and making a success of it."
