Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn says they'll learn from defeat at Tottenham.
McGinn struck in the 3-1 loss.
He said: “It's a massive step up for us. We can't get away from that.
“The tempo and intensity and physicality are a big step up.
“Over the piece, I think we gave a good account of ourselves but we know we need to improve on the ball and be a little braver in this league.
“We got punished for little things. The ball ended up going to Harry Kane and he's the last guy you want it to go to.
“It's a steep learning curve. But we have our first home game of the season next weekend and that's what we need to focus on now.
“We had confidence heading into this one. I think it's just an eye opener, especially in the second half, that the jump up to the Premier League is massive.
“But we do take positives. We will debrief it on Monday, work hard next week and then take it from there."
