Aston Villa interested in Brighton manager Potter to replace Gerrard

Aston Villa have a "strong interest" in Brighton manager Graham Potter.

The Midlands club are considering sacking boss Steven Gerrard, who has struggled to get the team firing despite spending huge sums of money in January and this summer.

Ex-Rangers boss Gerrard was touted as a future Liverpool manager, but has found it difficult to adapt to the high level of the Premier League.

Villa have lost three of their first four league matches this term, and Gerrard was booed by fans as they lost 1-0 to West Ham at the weekend.

According to Football Insider, Potter at Brighton is the key man admired by the Villa board, if they were to fire Gerrard.

At present, the ex-England star does have time to save his job, but must get the team winning as soon as possible.
