Aston Villa are set to offer Morgan Amalfitano a pathway back to the Premier League.

According to the Daily Mail, bottom-placed Villa are keen on the French attacking midfielder who is a free agent after leaving West Ham United by mutual consent in October.

French club Lille are showing significant interest in Amalfitano but the 30-year-old is keen to stay in England having enjoyed a season-long loan spell with West Bromwich Albion in 2013/14.

Remi Garde wants experienced players at Villa Park in January as he strives to climb out of the relegation zone and the option of landing Amalfitano for free is an attractive one.
