Aston Villa have no contract plans for defender Chester

Aston Villa are not planning to offer James Chester a new contract.

The 31-year-old arrived at Stoke City on loan in January, and is staying there for the rest of the season.

And Villa will not stand in his way of securing a new club in the summer.

Chester moved to Stoke for game time, and he likely does not have a future with Villa - even if they are relegated.

Football Insider suggests the long term fate of Chester is sealed at Villa.

His deal runs out in the summer, and he will move on a free to the club of his choosing.

He is well adrift of a starting spot, with Ezri Konsa, Bjorn Engels, Kortney Hause and Tyrone Mings options manager Dean Smith prefers at centre-back.
