Aston Villa goalkeeper Jed Steer is in new contract talks.

The Sun says the 26-year-old keeper has one season left on his current deal at Villa Park and the club have moved swiftly to secure his future.

Steer saved two penalties in the Championship play-off semi shoot-out when Dean Smith's side secured a place at Wembley, which led to their return to the Premier League.

He is poised to commit himself to the club with an extension and compete for the No1 jersey in Smith's team.

Smith gave the ex-Norwich goalkeeper his breakthrough into the first-team at Villa.
